The burgeoning student body at Moama Anglican Grammar School was pushing the capacity of the existent school facilities to the limit. A new library and expanded administration space were needed. According to Gerard Brandrick from Brandrick Architects, the school wanted to achieve an “exceptional first impression”, outside and in, with a new reception area and boardroom. The new library also needed to make a visual impact as well as optimise functionality in technology and meeting and classrooms to create a first-rate learning environment and a “competitive edge for the school”.
This luxurious accounting office is in a prime, Echuca location, overlooking the only intersection leading interstate. The commanding concrete envelope and striking blue glazed curtain wall provide an impressive entry into Victoria from the New South Wales border. An opulent void upon reception provides clear sight lines from the surrounding first floor offices, while an informal lounge with an abundance of space celebrates the remarkable surrounding vistas.
The White House is an alteration and addition to an existing 1940s art deco house, set in the historic town of Echuca. The client initially wanted an exciting, weekend holiday house for their family, however, as the project progressed, the house developed to appeal to a wider audience for spectacular holiday accommodation. The resulting house challenges the traditional notion of a weekend get-away, presenting an inviting, white-rendered façade to the street in a commanding, central, corner location in the ambient township atmosphere.Understated quality epitomises the design of this luxury, four bedroom home, with accommodation for four to ten people. The stunning kitchen and main living areas open onto a superb entertaining area with a private, gas heated pool.Set over two floors, the upper floor opens onto a sun-filled balcony overlooking the majestic Murray River. Circulation space opens onto an expansive void over the living area with the feature stairs laced with geometric, laser-cut steel. The highlight of the internal finishes is the polished, black timber floor, highlighted by white joinery and elements of stainless steel to compliment the monochromatic design.Photography: Rhys Leslie Photography & Jacinta McKenzie
